Don't throw away that old furniture, recycle it!

If you have an item of furniture that is looking a bit tired or dated, don't throw it away! Why not give it a new lease of life with a beautiful, hand painted eggshell finish in whatever colour you desire.

Restoring an old piece furniture can be a simple way to add a feature to any room and give it a new lease of life.

It does not matter what material the item is made from, as long as it is suitably prepared and primed. Once primed, it can be painted in whatever colour or finish you like.

The pictures below are of a pair of solid pine bedside drawers that were given to me by a family member who no longer needed them. They started off as bare wood which I primed then painted with 2 coats of Little Greene Acrylic Eggshell 'French Grey'. When dry, I used a cloth to rub dark wax over the drawers to give them an antiqued effect.

This doesn't just apply to single items of furniture, built in wardrobes or even kitchen units can be revived in the same way. Not only giving you a attractive, durable finish that will last for years to come, but also saving thousands of pounds when compared with replacing a kitchen for example.
